HOTEL DIPLOMAT, STOCKHOLM
King Oscar II got his boulevard, Strandvägen, in the late nineteenth Century. Strandvägen 7 was completed in 1911 and was one of the first buildings on the esplanade. The Malmström family bought 7c in 1918 and during the depression let out several of the grand apartments to foreign embassies.
The remaining apartments were converted into hotel rooms. During 1940-60 Strandvägspensionatet was run on the first floor. The present owner Sune Malmström turned the building into a modern hotel in 1966 and took the name Hotel Diplomat.

HOTEL DIPLOMAT ÅREGÅRDEN // ÅRE
The tradition of greeting guest to Åre is long. The starting point for Åre as a tourist destination was with the inauguration of the railroad to Trondheim in 1882. Guests started travelling to Åre for the fresh air and to hike up the mountains. These days there were no hotels in Åre and the only place to get a meal was at the restaurant down at the railway-station, owned by Albin Wettergren.
Kristina Hansson, a business woman living in Östersund, saw the business potentials that Åre had to offer and built the first hotel - a first class hotel and restaurant called Åreskutan. The hotel, a beautiful white building with 18 rooms opened 1895. By this time the higher social elite was already travelling to Åre on a regular basis which made it possible for Kristina to build a second and more luxurious hotel, just beside Åre Skutan 1897.
The same year, Albin Wettergren also opened a hotel in Åre, Grand Hotel, with 42 rooms, baths and dark room. Albin and Kristina became competitors but in the end Albin was more successful than Kristina, who was bankrupted in 1906.
Both Kristina’s hotels were overtaken 1910 by Agnar Meurling, who rebuilt both hotels into present state and named it Hotell Åregården 1918. Agnar who had a interest in art also decorated the hotel and Paul Jonze made the paintings in the library.
